The biggest limitation of GPS/GSM transmitters is losing touch with your wildlife when they venture out of cellular coverage. Sure, our transmitters will store years of data onboard and transfer it once back in range, but if you are like us, you would rather keep tabs on your beast through the whole deployment. We’ve got you covered.

Starting at 50-grams, whether you’re studying Common Cranes, Golden Eagles, Snowy Owls, or anything else, our ES-500 Hybrid transmitters will give you the customizable duty cycles you need to capture the high-resolution GPS and activity (accelerometer) data you want, while sending you sub-samples of data over the Argos system when they venture beyond cellular range. This means no more tough decisions between high-resolution GPS and ACC data in a limited network, vs. low resolutions GPS fixes and mortality indicators globally. With the ES-500 Hybrid we’ve changed the paradigm to give you the best of both worlds, around the world.
It’s like Argos, on steroids
Argos alone can provide doppler-GPS data natively…but at 1km resolution when the signal is optimal. Our GPS/GSM units are providing GPS fixes +/- 2 meters, and transmitting the most recent ~30 fixes over each Argos transmission, in addition to a unit health report and activity index. This means you always know where your animal is, with high-precision, no matter where they roam.
High-resolution GPS transmitted over GSM When your animal leaves the GSM network, your fixes are sent over Argos Clusters of GPS fixes sent over Argos keep you connected when your animal is off the grid
